Editing
We have an assembly cut of Giant Void! As with any creative work, you start with broad brushstrokes and work your way into finer detail. An assembly cut is a general sketch of the entire film, using the script as a guide, that reveals the problems that need fixing and detail work that needs doing.
I’m targeting June to have a completed rough cut. The next stage in the editing process, the rough cut gets us closer to our final film, and will give other teams - music, sound and visual effects - enough to kick off their work.
Postproduction fundraising
The scope of Giant Void’s visual effects is huge, and we’ve set quality bar very high on this project. Bottom line: we’re raising more money for postproduction over the summer and early fall. We’ll also be looking for additional investors and production companies to support this phase of the film.
I wouldn’t ask for anything without giving something in return, so we’ll launch this new wave of fundraising in conjunction with the film’s first teaser. More details in the coming months.
Watch Lullaby
Finally, I get to close the loop on the short film I co-directed with Alina Lee back in 2022, and which was in competition at the 2024 LA Shorts International Film Festival. It landed on YouTube months ago after completing its festival rounds, but I’ve been so busy with work and travel that I’m just now posting it here.
It punches hard, exactly the way we wanted it to. This film comes from Alina’s heart and soul, and it was an honor to help tell this story.
