Giant Void x Film Independent Fiscal Sponsorship
A few days ago Film Independent - the team that puts on the Independent Spirit Awards every year - accepted Giant Void into it’s fiscal sponsorship program. If you made a pledge to support Giant Void, here’s what you need to know:
In the coming month or two Film Independent will create a dedicated account and website to receive funds pledged to Giant Void. I’ll send an update once everything is set up. Until then these details are strictly for your information and not actionable.
Film Independent keeps 7% of all donations as part of this program.
You can send your money several ways:
Online via Film Independent’s dedicated site for Giant Void. This method takes an additional 3.5% of your donation for payment card processing fees. For this reason, I encourage donations over $1,000 to use one of the alternative methods listed below.
Check
Wire transfer
ACH deposit
Matching gift. If your employer offers matching gifts to charities and non-profits, this is a huge help and I would greatly appreciate you tapping this opportunity. Contact your employer’s HR to learn their process, then reach out to me at info@polyc.tv when you’re ready.
Stock donation. Film Independent can directly receive stocks as a donation. Upon receiving a stock donation they will immediately sell those stocks in order to disburse funds to the project. If you’re using this option I strongly recommend speaking to your financial advisor to ensure everything tax-wise lines up the way you want it. Contact me for further details if you’re considering this route.
Once Film Independent has your money, congratulations! You’ve officially made a donation not only to Giant Void, but also to a premiere indie film non-profit. They will provide you with the necessary documents to account for your donation come tax time.
Film Independent will then disburse funds from their account to Giant Void as needed throughout the life of the project.
Stay tuned for another newsletter with an official “green light” on sending in your pledges.
A quick note directly from Film Independent for legal coverage:
Giant Void is a fiscally sponsored project of Film Independent, a non-profit independent media arts organization. Film Independent will receive grants for the charitable purposes of Giant Void, provide oversight to ensure that grant funds are used in accordance with grant agreements, and provide reports as required by the grantor. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Giant Void must be made payable to Film Independent and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Exciting times. Barring any further global crises, Giant Void will go into production in 2023. All thanks to you.
Several other projects are in the works - updates on those next time. And as promised, each one of these newsletters comes with a non sequitur image.
