Giant Void 2022 Fundraising Results
In 2022 Giant Void met its fundraising goals. There is enough money to make a movie in our account, but at a bare minimum budget. Going into 2023 we’re still seeking as much funding as we can get through grants, development programs, and donors like you.
In the spirit of complete transparency, here’s the breakdown of contributions:
$75,000: 1 donor *
$10,000-20,000: 4 donors
$1,000-5,000: 13 donors
$75-500: 14 donors
That’s 32 donors, $150,000, and near-infinite generosity. Thank you all!
* Quick backstory on this mega-donor: Their names were Emma and Bob, and they were my grandparents. They both died long ago and left me - then about 20 years old - a $12,500 mutual fund. I was told the sum was for education, a house, or some other life-enriching future pursuit. I haven’t touched the money since - I found other ways to pay for educations and houses, mainly through hard work. Now, decades later, I can’t imagine a more life-enriching pursuit than making this film. So thanks grandma and grandpa! Rest easy knowing your hard-earned money not only grew a lot, but went towards something deeply important to me.
And thanks to all of you who contributed and sent your cash over to Film Independent. It’s an enormous show of faith, support and encouragement that isn’t lost on me. If you haven’t donated yet, fundraising isn’t over by a long shot. You can still donate at any time! Check this post for all the ways you can donate to the project and get a tax write-off.
Up front I can tell you this is going to be a slow process. In order to succeed, Giant Void needs more legal, marketing, distribution and acting contacts. It needs crew and locations. Those elements will be my primary focus in the coming months.
Until then.
